Laura Cobb: A PhD-Trained Scientist
I am a freelance medical writer with experience in a variety of scientific and medical fields.
I obtained my BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, followed by my Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Cambridge, UK.
Subsequently, I completed a post-doctoral fellowship in cancer and diabetes research and worked as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Mattel Children’s Hospital, UCLA.
While at UCLA, my research led to the discovery of several novel anti-aging peptides and the formation of a start-up biotech company to promote their preclinical development. The company is now trading on the stock exchange and continues to thrive.
Throughout my career in academic medicine and biotech, I retained a passion for writing; I was always happier writing manuscripts or grants or preparing presentations than I was at the bench. In 2012, I decided that the time was right to follow my passion, so I joined the American Medical Writers Association and made medical writing my full-time work. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made!
My broad background means that I am comfortable writing in a variety of scientific and clinical areas.
When you hire me you are not just hiring a writer; you are hiring a seasoned and successful scientist who understands the big-picture implications of your work.
I enjoy building long-term relationships with my clients so that I can help them build their research program, client base, knowledge, or company. For clients who need more than just writing, I also offer a variety of consulting and project management services.
After all, it is my job to make your life easier and make you look good.
